In order to get residence permit and stay in Ankara University dormitories all international students should submit a valid health insurance that covers health expenses in Turkey.
Students can buy this health insurance from a private company registered in Turkey or their home country, or can join Turkish General Health Insurance System.
Please consider that if students buy health insurance from their home country, there is a need of validation in Turkey.
Turkish General Health Insurance System
According to the Law 6864, published on May 29, 2013, International Students who want to benefit health services should be insured by the Social Security Institution of Turkey. International Students are going to pay determined “minimum premium amount” throughout their education on monthly basis. This amount is 50 TL per month. Students who want to apply for this insurance should apply within first 3 months of their arrival.
Also, international students who already registered to Ankara University can apply for General Health Insurance in 6 months by the date that related law published (May 29, 2013).
